American Fairytale (Dreamers 2) by Adriana Herrera

Another pitch-perfect bi-racial romance from Adriana Herrera. We want to thank @lacountylibrary for access to this book and many other wonderful services. If you don’t know what incredible services your library has, read this thread!

The second book in Adriana Herrera’s debut series is about asking, giving, and receiving help and all the complications that can come from that. Firstly, always ask for help when you need it! Don’t be afraid. Asking for help doesn’t diminish you, in fact, I’ve felt stronger when I’ve asked for help, braver.

This book also lightly discusses depression, so if that’s a trigger for you, just a heads up.

Most importantly this story is about the immigrant experience. Coming from Cuba or the DR to follow your dreams in America. It’s about the struggles of the previous generations and the strength they gave to the current one.

This book is beautiful in its strength; it knows itself as Milo and Ted both know themselves and instinctually, each other. Sure, they get it wrong sometimes, but they communicate well and clearly with each other, thinking emotionally as well a logically.

If I had to criticize anything, and really, I’m clearly reaching for something wrong, it’s that she used the word “pelt” to describe Tom’s chest hair. Nope. Pelt is fur. Pelt is animal. That’s a no from me. So, one word. I didn't like one word. This series is amazing so far. It’s a recommend from me! - Ford
