Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean (Bareknuckle Bastards #2)
Hattie and Whit are possibly my favorite couple, thought I am unfairly writing this review after having finished not only this book but also the last in the series.
Some of the aspects of this installment feel cookie-cutter identical to Book 1 of this series, but that does not take away from their charm.
If in Book 1 you loved:
-Quiet, but deadly bastard with a heart of gold
-Bathtub scene to make you hot and bothered
-A Duke trying to mess with your beloved
-Clever women in charge of their own fate
Then you will be pleasantly surprised.
Hattie is a firecracker and Whit is so damn likable that you forget his job is to beat up people.
This book spends more time discussing the unfair place women have in this society that places for too much value on title and gender norms and I like it all the better for it.
You will want to immediately jump to Book 3 as this one ends on a cliff-hanger, but luckily that book is already out so you can go ahead and finish this super fun series. -Sky
