Electric Idol (Dark Olympus #2) by Katee Robert
After reading Neon Gods I set a very high bar for this second book. Unfortunately, it didn't quite reach it for me.
The story is still interesting and the two flawed, but lovely MCs are fun to read, something about the whole piece didn't quite click for me.
Psyche and Eros's story have all the hallmarks of what life is like when you are chasing maintaining a social media image. I loved getting to see the "public" and "private" personas of these two.
One of the many ways that Neon Gods was so spectacular to me was the level, specificity, and frequency of consent between the MCs. This book had a lot more implied consent rather than verbalized permissions. I didn't realize how much I would miss the latter until it was gone. (Don't get me wrong, this was still a very clearly consensual sexual relationship, I just liked the communication between Hades and Persephone more).
I am thrilled to know that book three is a poly M/M/F adventure featuring Helen. Can't wait to come back to this Olympus.- Sky
