This is a collection of four F/M romantic short stories that originally appeared in the author’s newsletter. (HINT: if you haven’t signed up for your favorite authors’ newsletters, go do it! There is ALWAYS yumminess to be found there!). The first two The Forbidden Christmas Gift and New Years Eve are age gap holiday romances. Usually, I do not like an age gap story, they weird me out, just not my thing, but what I liked about these is that the justification for why these two should be together was believable. It was never about their age, either, but about family, friends, or work. Loving Valentine is a lovely but tough story about teenagers and falling in and out with each other before finally finding their right time. It really resonated with me, as I had an on-again, off-again boyfriend as a young adult and the horrible things we said to each other the last time, really shredded us apart permanently. These two characters figured out how to grow from those shredded feelings and come back to each other stronger. The last short story, Ember in the Heart, is another age gap story about a young single dad and his next-door neighbor. They cannot resist each other and again, the age difference is only used as ammunition in their epic fights.

Samantha Young crafted short, tightly paced, steamy stories. Each of these could have been full-length stories but I loved becoming engrossed in characters for a very short time. I could have read more, but I didn’t need more. Four little, lovely worlds to dip into between holiday family engagements. -Ford
