Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Never has a review felt more like a book report than this one! Maybe because I first read this beloved novel in school, but honestly, I’m overwhelmed by what to say, how to approach this story that hasn’t be said before.

I love this book. It is one of my all-time favorites and re-reading it as my first book of the year filled me with so much joy and warmth. I would give people around me an update on where I was: “Elizabeth is about to go north with the Gardiners and see Pemberly. This is when she starts to fall in love with Darcy.” I wanted everyone around me to share in my glow.

This re-read through I wanted to track when Darcy and Elizabeth (I can’t call her Lizzy, I don’t know why.) fell in love with each other. My memory of it was very un-grounded and sudden, but truly, Darcy fell for Elizabeth so early on in the book. He loved that she was mean to him! How delightful!

The other part I thoroughly enjoyed was mixing and matching the characters from all the different film adaptations. Colin Firth as Darcy, Kiera Knightly as Elizabeth, Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennet, Judy Dench as Lady Catherine. Just delightful.

I love this book. I love how thinking about this book makes me feel. This book is a homecoming and a comfort I didn’t know I needed. -Ford

I feel like anything I would add to this lovely review would spoil it, so see above. - Sky
