The Rehearsals is a women’s fiction(?)/dual POV Groundhog Day story, where Megan and Tom are reliving the day before their wedding, dodging and creating/trying to fix a myriad of disasters, the biggest one that they relinquished control of their lives and were just going through the motions. Past and present secrets, along with truly polarizing parents make their job of getting back on track even harder.

This book was epically hard for me to read because it triggered a lot of stressors: my wedding, though lovely, was an event that I couldn’t stop “working” (I do event management IRL) and family issues, including family-centered guilt trips. It was hard to detach from the emotions that this book dredged up to become fully immersed in the story.

Annette Christie did a beautiful job of writing and I wanted to see, because this wasn’t a romance, how the Not An HEA was going to happen, but I had an emotional slog of it. -Ford
