The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa

This was vaguely connected to the Worst Best Man in that some of the characters from that novel show up here, but I didn’t feel like I needed the first book to really enjoy this one.

Solange and Dean are a fun couple to watch bloom into a relationship. He is sure he wants a pragmatic partnership with no feelings involved and she is all feeling and leaning in emotionally.

The book brings up a very valid discussion about the misconception of employers that a person with a partner is more likely to stay with the company longer, than one who is uncoupled. It should not matter at all who you do or don’t date and yet corporate culture continues to push the “traditional happy family” commentary.

I fell in love with Solange a little myself, she is all vibrancy and light, I would follow her anywhere. It was easy to see how Dean relaxed around her. I loved the set-up of the sex party and the candor with which these two grown adults discussed their needs and desires. It was refreshing to see a real conversation on that front.

Was having another two characters be in the same fake-relationship-turned-real situation a little much? Yes, it was. Could there have been a more delicate way to give Dean the final push towards Solange? There probably was, but I was already screaming: “You idiot!” at the book and was relieved when someone put him out of his misery.

Lastly, this book is funny and full of parental love and found family. It’s a great rom-com to get you out of your daily grind -Sky.
