This book. Oh this book, gave me all the feels. It was thoughtful and kind with complex characters who have articulate needs. Leads that felt like real people with real problems and solutions.
The story drops you right into the middle of the action, with tastes of what has colored the way everyone is reacting to the situation, I liked how many layers there were to reveal. A father-daughter bond, a sisterly-bond, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons. The conversation surrounding family, meddlesome, but loving, made me missing mine.
The banter, easy friendship, and sexual tension had twists and turns that were not "usual" for the genre. Most notably the darkest moment in the book and its resolution is handled in a very mature way, realistic of how adults would react to the situation. So frequently this is the most irrational part of romance, but Farah Heron handled it beautifully.
Her heroine, Reena, has a great growth arc, that is meaningful and empowering. Navim is a character with secrets, but the way he is written, we believe him, when they are revealed. We believe them both when they choose their path and we cheer for them in their successes and failures.
If you are looking for a funny, wholesome, raunchy, meddling, foodie, gloriously mess romance this one is for you. (Now go get all that stuff from the store and get reading!) - Sky
