Donut Fall in Love by Jackie Lau

Thank you to @this_is_edelweiss and @berkleyromance for the ARC!

———————

I read the first 30 percent of this book and had to DNF.

I want to make it clear that the book was good, however I would have greatly benefited from a content warning.

Both MCs are living through the grief of losing a parent, one of them more recently and suddenly then the other. This is in the blurb to the book, but there is no warning at the amount of potentially triggering content that is this book. Though my loss is not a recent one, I found myself unable to proceed.

I tend to reach for romance as a way to escape, and this felt heavy with grief, both on the page and my own. So I put it down, knowing that I am not in the headspace to hold the space for my mental health in this read.

I really think a content warning would have gone a long way to preparing me for the fun pages of this book, they felt delicious. - Sky
