Lore Olympus, Vol. 2 by Rachel Smythe

This second installment is just a beautiful as the first! I love this comic retelling of Persephone and Hades. Persephone is going to college in Olympus and develops a crush on the much older Hades. The crush is reciprocated in this volume, but Hades chooses to squash it. Hera, ever the mover and shaker, gives Persephone an internship under Hades in the Underworld and Minthe, Hades’ current girlfriend plays a mean prank on Persephone.

This volume, as a collection, does suffer from act 2 slump, a little bit. With only a few plot points and a lot more character development and consequences of action that happened in Vol. 1, this one felt like a bridge to Volume 3, which is out in October.

I’ve read all the content in this volume on Webtoons and at this rate, it will probably be volume 4 before we get to content I haven’t read yet, but that doesn’t matter, because I’m in it. I’m ready. Bring on more. -Ford
