House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas (Crescent City #1)

This book is everything Sarah J. Maas is a master at blue-balling readers, full and in-depth world, magic development, and plot twists galore. Her female characters are always strong and faulty and admirable for both qualities. This book is astounding.

Bryce finds herself at the center of an investigation into a string of mysterious, high-profile, and gory murders. She’s brought into the investigation and has to work with surly Hunt Athalar, an angel and a slave for the part he played in trying to overthrow the current regime.

This book has so many incredible layers and I’m so glad it’s just the first in a series! -Ford
